Online Auction Honoring the extraordinary Life and Legacy of Avicia H. Thorpe (1908–2020) – the oldest known person to be living in Virginia at the time of her passing. Born in Danville and living to the remarkable age of 112, Mrs. Thorpe witnessed more than a century of history, transformation, and triumph—leaving an indelible mark on her community. A proud graduate of Bluefield State College, Mrs. Thorpe dedicated her life to education. She taught English at Westmoreland High School and later at John M. Langston High School in Danville, inspiring generations of students with her intellect and grace. A devoted member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she embodied a lifelong commitment to service, and was active with the YWCA, the local NAACP chapter, her church and other groups.

Any items not claimed on the designated pick up date, will be considered abandoned and will become the property of B & H Auction with no refunds given. Purchases must be paid for in full prior to pick up.

If the address provided by you is incorrect, you will be responsible for any address correction charges incurred. Please note: Handling fees start at $15 and will increase depending on the quantity and size of items being wrapped & shipped. The nature of some items can cause the shipping and handling fees to be quite expensive and we are not responsible for any loss or damage that may occur during shipping. We are a small auction company with limited shipping resources, and we try to limit our shipping volume, therefore, if you live with 60 miles of our Gallery, we ask that you arrange to have your items picked up. Shipping of your items can take up to 8-10 weeks or possibly more depending on the nature of the purchase as well as the quantity of items included. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
